Sophie's Story of Progress

When hard work wasn't enough

Sophie's mum first contacted Coded Pathways because she was worried about her daughter's reading and spelling.

This wasn't a child who wasn't trying. Sophie read every night at home, participated in class and was putting in the effort. Despite this, she wasn't making the progress her family or teacher expected.

Like many parents, Sophie's mum wasn't looking for more worksheets or more reading practice. She wanted to understand why Sophie was finding literacy so difficult.

Sophie completed a comprehensive literacy assessment to build a clear picture of her strengths and the areas that needed support.

A Year 4 Learner's Story of Progress

When effort wasn't leading to progress

By the time this Year 4 student came to Coded Pathways, his parents knew something wasn't quite right.

He was working hard and wanted to do well, but spelling continued to be a challenge. Despite support at school and plenty of effort, his progress wasn't matching the work he was putting in.

Like many families, they weren't looking for another program to "try". They wanted to understand what was getting in the way and how to support him in a way that would make a real difference.

Building the right foundation

Following a comprehensive literacy assessment, we identified the specific skills that needed strengthening and developed a personalised intervention plan.

His spelling performance improved from the Very Low Average range to the High Average range on standardised assessment.

More importantly, he wasn't just achieving better scores.

He approached spelling with greater confidence, used effective strategies independently and showed a much stronger understanding of the patterns and rules that had previously caused frustration.
